At the time, she envisioned her future to include academic research, field work, travel, and branching out into international work. Her husband’ s role in the Army National Guard fit well with those goals until September 11, 2001. After that horrific day, Elaine adjusted her professional ambition to support her husband and care for their children during repeated deployments. Elaine took the opportunity to become an expert in the field of criminal justice, and she hasexcelled as a professional andas a military spouse. Her success is the result of redefining her professional role from field researcher to research designer to president of a research organization.
