Kate Sparrow brings her extensive public policy and issue advocacy experience to the Other Side of Service as the Policy Chair. Most recently, Kate was an adjunct professor at Central Texas College’s Far East Campus in Atsugi, Japan. She taught sales, marketing, and advertising courses to active duty military members working towards associate degrees. Previously, Kate served as the Associate Publisher of The New Republic in Washington, DC. Under the new leadership of Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes, Kate led the advertising department and expanded revenue in the thought-leader category, with a specific focus on inside-the-beltway advocacy campaigns. Prior to working at The New Republic, Kate sold and managed advocacy advertising campaigns for The Hill Newspaper. She created custom print, online, and custom Congressional event packages for clients such as McDonald’s, Walmart, UnitedHealthcare, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Kate began her career in publishing at US News & World Report, and previously worked on Capitol Hill in the office of Representative John Tierney (D-MA). She holds a BA in Political Science and MBA from The George Washington University.
